In order to live and work legally in the US, do I need to find a job first in order to apply for a work visa?

Or do I need to apply for a work visa first and then look for a job? And if I'm married, will she get a visa as well? I'm a french graphic designer and my wife is a hungarian photographer. Many thanks for your answers.

You don't apply for a work visa. The company that wants to hire you applies for the visa and also acts as your sponsor. So, you need to find a job with someone who is willing to sponsor you. If you are married, your wife can also get a visa, but she can't work while in the US.
