  1. Keep debris out of the impeller.

  2. Well if you are performing a power flush on a heating system the flushing unit used runs at a much higher speed than a domestic circulating pump. You remove the pump to stop it restricting flow, to stop it getting damaged and by removing the pump you have two really handy connections to attach your flushing unit! Beware though, if you are power flushing an old system the flushing process can remove corrosion and dirt that is sealing holes in pipework and radiators. You should always expect a leak or two in the coming weeks after a power flush.

  3. When flushing a new installation, you'd normally flush up to the pump suction, then through the pump and the rest of the system. You might bypass the pump if you had no means of ensuring that no debris was giing to get into the pump, or if you couldn't therwise protect the pump (like with a screen).

  4. personally i have never taken a pump out to do a flush. Its the pump that gets the flushing agent round the system

  5. I assume you mean flushing. You don't need to remove the pump. Read the instructions on flushing chemicals in the DIY stores.
