  1. round robin is where everyone plays everyone once in a pool tournement.Calcutta is were you "bid" for the player you think is going to win before the tournement starts and with the money collected there is a seperate payoff for the 1st,2nd,3rd ect finish players depending how many places they are paying..So even if you dont play in the tournement you can make money by buying the right player in the calcutta.Most of the time the "favorite" to win the tournement will go pretty high..like $500 and up..but if they win the first place prize is pretty good.Most the time the player will "BUY" half him self from you(his option) so you will only be out half of what you bid he or she will cover the other half.

    Calcutta - aka 'Player Auction' is illegal in most states, but it's basically the auctioning of every player in a pool tournament one by one before the tournament begins.
