  1. Used in 8 ball pool & snooker.You are allowed a hit and ball on the table including the black without it being a foul shot. You can also pocket any ball apart from the black on a free ball. Potting the black on a free ball would end the game.


  2. Free ball usually takes place in 8-ball games. When a player breaks, any of the balls can be pocketed. And when taking the second shot, it's always free ball. Meaning, it does not matter what ball was pocketed at the first break. At the second shot, the player is allowed to choose either the solids or coloured balls.

  3. It means you can pot any ball you want with the exception of the black.

    The benefit of this is you could pot an opponents ball but this may then give you a better line to potting yours that was not previously possible.
