it says the first 18 races determine who the final 10 will be.then those 10 compete in the last 6 races to determine winner.but is only those 10 cars at the race,or do they have to qaulify to make it against the normal field of 20.how many cars are in the last 6 races, are some there even though they cant win the championship.usually there are 16 cars per race.

  1. here it goes, the top 10 cars in each class make it to the "countdown to the championship", at indy, those ten cars have their point readjusted, and then its just like normal racing, they must qualify for the 16 car field and win rounds, its just every one else outside the top ten is just racing for event wins, not points, and every one in the top ten gets the same points as always....lol its confusing i know

  2. Once they get to ten. They race as normal.  They have to qualify for the race against others that are not eligible for the championship.  If a non chase car, beats a chase car in the first round then the chase car doesn't get as many points.  Its a pretty good set up cause the winner has historically been in the top eight for the last 6 races.

  3. Each race after the 10 is set  I'm pretty sure 2 get eliminated from the countdown so it goes 10,8,6,4,2, then within the 2 they'll run and you'll have the champ. Its rather a weird deal I don't really like it much they changed it from last year which doesn't really make a big difference.
