In pursuit of Grand Slam, Andy Murray faces a lawsuit – Tennis News
World number four, Andy Murray, cried at the prize distribution ceremony of the Wimbledon Championships due to his inability to overpower the reigning world number one, Roger Federer, in the grand finale at All England Lawn Tennis
Club.
The gesture of natural tears running down his face might have influenced a lot of tennis fanatics to feel for the poor guy who has never won a Grand Slam Championship in his professional career. However, it had no affect on David
Cody who has alleged the number one Briton and his mother, Judy Murray, for a fraud agreement. It was the deal made before the Scot climbed to the Top-10 rankings in the world. The details of the case are not made public to date.
Cody, who belongs to Texas and coaches tennis players, has filed a case in the Royal Court of Justice. Players like Anna Smashnova, a former world No 15, are groomed in the academy of Cody. Judy, mother of Andy Murray, also coaches
tennis professionals and turned 52 this year, is also a coach and recently took over the responsibility of being a Federation Cup team Captain of Great Britain.
Andy will take a strong action and do whatever he can to contest a legal action against Cody. The spokesman of the Scot stated, “This claim appears to relate to an agreement negotiated by Andy’s then manager/agent many years ago.
On the basis of the very vague information which has been provided, it would appear to have no merit whatsoever and will be vigorously defended. The claim has not yet been served.”
No date is set for the hearing of the case but Master Bragge, the procedural judge, has been chosen to handle the proceedings.
It must be a tough time for the Briton to face a legal lawsuit just after a major heartbreak at Wimbledon. He was just one win away from becoming the first ever British tennis player to win a Grand Slam in 76 years.
Last time British fans witnessed their professional tennis star lifting a Grand Slam Championship was in 1936 and since 1939, no Briton ever made it into the finals of the Championship either. So, it was a major achievement that
was just snatched by the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, who lifted his 17th Grand Slam title and seventh Wimbledon title; regained the number one place in the world at the age of 30 and revived the old memories as well.
