In the musical "Rent," I've never been sure what they mean when they talk about "milk" in the song "Over the Moon." I always assumed that it meant "money," but I've heard other interpretations as well. Any thoughts on what "milk" is supposed to be?

  1. It's designed to be subtle and obscure, probably not so much "G" rated.

Essentially MILK refers to an essence of LIFE,,,similar to Mothers Milk,,, a Universal absorbing of forces that nurture, promote growth, and in the deepest sense of subtly references the female gender.

  2. grandeur.. Money....Cows!!!

    Libby

  3. greediness

    money

    flavor

    milk

  4. What SW said. Milk -- the essence of life -- the unbridled freedom to be yourself -- is banned.  ``We only drink Diet Coke`` means they are force fed consumerism and what the media says we should drink or ``take in`` to increase profits for the already uber-wealthy.
