  1. Making your bicycle go? (just kidding...)

  2. Usually used in the NHRA and drag racing (not as commonly needed in NASCAR), when the car accelerates too fast it will smoke the tires, thus increasing friction and making the car go almost a hundred MPH slower. Peddling is when the driver lets off the throttle momentarily in order to keep his/her speed and, when both cars do it, it can make for one h**l of a race! ;)

You can see it when the car will have smoke coming out the back for a bit, then it stops, and could start again and stop again if the driver needs to.

  4. Almost any decent race car has enough horsepower to spin the tires either off the starting line (drag racing) or coming off a corner. The car stops accelerating when the tires start to spin so the driver lifts off the throttle to help the tires get traction again. Once the tire hooks up, you get back on the throttle.

  5. GO faster

  6. Pedalling is when you let go a little bit and then floor it again to push the engine harder.

  7. In any form of motor-sport peddling means simply to lift off the accelerator to slow your speed for whatever reason necessary: you may be trying to conserve fuel, or (as in the example below) tires, or you are entering a turn too fast. Peddling is not the same as applying the brakes however.
