In railroading, what is a "yardmaster"?

  2. A person who superintends all or part of a railroad yard

  3. Yardmasters are the guys in the depot who oversee train operations through the yards, switching operations in the yards and getting crews on inbound trains home before their hours of service ends, which where I live they dont do a good job of.
