The movie 21 got me interested, I hadnt seen it yet, but im curious how real casinos act upon dealing with gamblers who know how to get better odds with any game (doesnt have to be blackjack). As if the gamblers are just using strategy, not cheating. I wanna know details like, how much money till they'll keep an eye on you, or how much money till they bar you. Or the differences in casinos on legality. Or if casinos communicate with each other about it. Like lets pretend i developped a some system, I wanna know how real casinos actually deal with elite players. Also if you know any websites where I can find this out myself

  1. Blackjack is pretty much the only game in which a player can gain a statistical advantage over the house.  All other games, regardless of how gifted in math the gambler may be, have a statistical advantage to the house.  A very math oriented player may be able to figure out which bets give him the best odds, but those odds will still favor the house and the house will be the winner in the long run.

Blackjack is unique in the fact that every card that gets in play is exposed so a skilled counter can use all of that info to their advantage.  However, many casinos are now using continuous shuffle machines that effectively eliminate any advantage counting can provide.  The game is now more or less like any other game where every card has an equal probability of being dealt for each hand and the advantage is now always in the house's favor.

  2. Hi, I used to card count. I used the hi-lo method. Mostly casinos don't think it's a big deal because tons of people come in and THINK that they can count cards, and therefore, end up turning in a significant portion of a casino's profits.

But when you've been around for 2 months, the casinos start to catch on. In Vegas for example, casinos hire the same security agency and they share information with each other. This is why counters resort to desperate measures such as gait transformation and disguise.

The thing we most avoid is getting "backroomed" because they can take your picture and then, you're a dinosaur (someone who can't play ever due to the fact that all casinos know who you are).

Also, casinos can just ban you from an establishment per "the businessowners right to refuse service to any individual". If you try to get through and get caught, you get arrested for trespassing.

  3. they treat them GREAT!!!!!!.....to continue to get all their money

  4. hmmm, well, i don't really think they treat ppl differently because of how smart they are. i do know though that, when you make an amount of money that they see as too much, they'll cut you off and won't let you play anymore. and i believe they ask you to leave.

  5. Unlike in the older, more mob run, days - they dont use violence or threats to get rid of them

They simply refuse to let them play. As it mentions in the film, counting cards is not illegal - but casinos (and every other hotel/bar/restaurant) always reserve the right not to serve who ever they wish.

They also share a database of known card counters (and cheaters), so it is much harder to simply go to another casino if you get caught in one
