  1. Do you mean for a journey? If so the person presenting the warrant can obtain there ticket at any Manned Ticket Office or if there is not one availiable, any ticket issuing member of staff (Conductor on train, Revenue Inspector, Travel Agent)

  2. No, a rail warrant can be used from any mainline station it does not have to be local.

problem is a lot of local stations have not got any ideas what to do with a rail warrant, and let them pass through as if they are holding a ticket.

If you exchange from the ticket office they will oblige the "by cheapest route" but if sold on especially larger trains you may be eligible for the full open fare

  3. Once an account is set up, warrants can be issued for travel from any station to any other station. They can also be issued to include bus travel in certain cases. I see a lot of warrants issued by the army which include bus travel from army bases such as Catterick, to Darlington for onward rail travel.

Warrants should be exchanged for tickets before travel: if a warrant is presented on-train the only fare available is the full open single or return. I don't mind exchanging warrants on - train, I get 5% commission on ticket sales :-).
