  1. SCY= short course yards. the pool is  a 25 yard pool

SCM= short course meters. the pool is 25 meters, which are longer and will therefore take longer to swim

LCM= long course meters. the times for this are usually the slowest because it is a 50 meter pool....longer distance which means no turns if it's a 50 free, and less turns for everything else.

  2. For most championship meets the swimmer can qualify to swim using a time from the 3 most common pool lengths longcourse Meters (LCM), shortcourse yards (SCY) and shortcourse meters (SCM).  All 3 courses are a little different in length so the times are altered to match the course.
