  1. TWH is short for Tennessee Walking Horse.

  2. TWH means Tennessee Walking Horse.  It's a horse who was used on the plantations of Tennessee and can cover a LOT of ground with it's "running walk".

    Their unique four-beat "running walk" is especially comfortable to ride, making the breed a well-suited trail companion.  The breed is rarely seen in any of the sport horse dieciplines; however, they are good for trail riding because of their smooth gaits, stamina and easy temper and are also seen in western riding disciplines and in harness.

    I leased one back in the early 1970's and loved him.  He was intelligent, kind and flashy, not to mention he was incredibly smooth.

  3. Tennesee Walking Horse, and no they are not known for their high step but for an extra gait, a four beat walk that is extremely gentle and covers ground quickly, also known as the "running walk".  Many people prefer them for trail riding as they have a "rocking chair" feel and are easy on the riders back!   They have a natural quick step.

  4. Tennessee Walking Horse

    even though i saw the correct answers above...i just had to answer.....yeah i live in Aus I had to learn the terms aswell

  5. it means Tennesse Walking Horse in most cases (a breed) and i'm not sure that you don't use in it NZ, i bet you just haven't heard it yet!

  6. TWH is actually Tennessee Walking Horse

    RP=Riding Pony

    TB=Thoroughbred

    QH=Quarter Horse

    ASH=Australian Stock Horse

    APSB=Australian Pony Stud Book

    RPSBS=Riding Pony Stud Book Society

  7. When you say "High stepping" you are thinking of the Big l**k Show horses with the pads and weights...yes those are TWH but other than those Big l**k Shows the rest of us TWH owners and riders like them the way Nature made them...easy gaited, easy to ride, flat shod. They are an intelligent animal and try to please and are a good all around riding horse.  In fact, I had my two Walkers over to a neighbours letting a visiting family from Australia ride them ...the one comment about them was...I don't see why they call them Walkers...he did not walk the whole time I was on them"  they loved to get them into their running walk.  So you may be seeing more of them over there soon.

  8. The Tennessee Walking Horse is a gaited breed of horse and has jsut recenty gone worldwide. Many people see them as those high stepping horses with pads on there feet but actully only 10% of all walklers do what i call Performance walkers

    very big diffrence. there are onyl a few TWH in New Zealand that i have heard of. it was a big thing when the first was imported to scotland so im sure it will be a big deal if more go to NZ.

  9. Tennessee Walking Horse

  10. The term stands for Tennessee Walking Horse and that is a breed of horse, if you don't already know.
