  1. Don't know about the scots,welsh and

    northern Irish but here in Yorkshire

    a dialect or accent, as you put it,can

    and dose change within a couple

    of miles.So there are many.


  2. yes, but we have been invaded more than most places, so we have left-over bits of all those accents to cope with.  That is not to say that other countries don't have diferent regional accents; there are loads in ireland and the US.  Probably all over but we don't realise as much because of the language barrier.

  3. Dude, accents in the UK are different not just from region to region, but in different parts of the same county, or even from one part of a city/town to the other! In my town, there's a "common" part were people speak with strong Estuary accent, and there's a "posh" part where people speak a bit more posh.

    Have you watched film "My Fair Lady"? It's an excellent perspective on accents in the UK.

  4. yes too large for us and too many dialects and the slang words is horrendous . nice though innit !

  5. Regional accents in the uk vary by about every 25 miles with the UK 200(ish) by 800 miles there are in excess of 40 regional dialects, accents.

  7. yeah only just fort bout that coz america u only really hear 2 types of accents (or 3 if u count black people)
