It was nice to see America take the cocky french in the 400 m. That's what you get for talking smack, loosers. What is smash mean in french?

  1. 'Smash' is a word usually used in volley ball by the french... its practically same as the english smash word

And no, that does not mean lose in french

  2. In English, "smash" means, in this context, "to destroy", but connotatively, it means, because this is a olympic swimming competition, to "defeat" by way of a rout. That is, a defeat that causes strong disappointing emotions to the one being defeated.

A "rout" is a complete defeat....For instance, here is "rout" used in a sentence.....

The Chicago White Sox routed the Detroit Tigers 14 to 1.

  3. The swimmer who said "We'll smash the Americans" said that exact phrase in English, so yes, he was definitely talking smack.  I'd like to see Michael Phelps (or any member of the Men's U.S. Olympic swim team, for that matter) give that arrogant p!$$ant the bee-otch slap he so richly deserves.  P.S.:  It's spelled LOSE, not LOOSE.
