What was said about bartenders and waiters etc. should be tipped because they aren't paid enough. That's ridiculous.. if they need to make more money they should get another job that pays better it's not our problem. Do you go around giving your money away to every profession that you don't feel is paid enough? pahh.. come on with the good old greedy British spirit it's the way forward

  1. You should tip them because that is the traditional set up.  You can justify your cheapness and unwillingness to pay for a service you are receiving (just becuase they made it voluntary and up to you how much you should pay) any way that makes sense to your feeble, self centered mind, but that doesn't change reality.  I understand, you probably don't make enough to afford rent and beer, and you have to have your beer, so you'll stiff the girl bringing it to you.  That's why you always have spit floating in it.

If your attitude catches on, then tips will be mandatory--they'll be right on the bill, like they are when a large group goes to a restaraunt.  They don't have to be optional--it's up to the restaraunt, they could just be part of the price of your rotgut whiskey.  And then the waiter would know they'll get paid no matter how they treat you.   So you won't be able to get decent service (even at places you haven't been to yet--your regular spots already know your cheap aass and know to take care of the customers who may actually pay them to bring a drink over).

  2. Go to the dentist you snaggle-toothed brit.  Servers make $2.13 an hour and depend on tips as their only source of income.  If you don't want to tip, stay at home and wallow in your cultural ignorance.

  3. Wow, are you that cheap on dates...

You tip because they are providing you a service, you pay them for that service. Or you go to fast food and they can throw your food on the counter for you in a sack.

  4. " if they need to make more money they should get another job that pays better it's not our problem"

-Then who'd serve all you tight arses out  there ? Geez, I bet you'd make your grandmother go dutch!

  5. Your an idiot. Plain and simple. You are not educated enough to make a statement like this. You obviously have never worked in the restaraunt industry. Servers make on average 2.13 an house. How much money do you make? I bet it's not 2.13 an hour. They would about 5 or 6 hour shifts. So without tips that comes to about $11.00 a day, 5 days a week is $55.00. Please tell me another industry that makes that amount. You can't can you? Server work extremely hard and are on their feet all day long without a break. They work hard to please you so that you can tip them and insure that they make more that $55 that day. Also servers are usually working more than one job or putting themselves through school. You should really go get a job as a server, you wouldn't even last one night!!!!!

  6. Most people assume bartenders and waiters make money up the yazoo ... when the truth is, yes, there are nights when they make great money, like on a Friday or Saturday night ... and there are week nights like a Tuesday or Wednesday, where the most they'll receive is a buck or two from each customer.  On those days, they wish they had a different job because they worked their @$$es off for $20.00 the whole night.

  7. Most waiters and bartenders that I know or while I was one was because we are in school trying to get a degree to get that better job.  It is a very flexible work environment for someone in school.  I also feel that you should pay for what you got.  Surely-an extra dollar wasn't worth all the attention you got or anything like that.  And I also know it can go both ways that an extra dollar or less is definitely worth not getting refills and stuff like that.  Waiters and bartenders are hard workers.
