THE Anzac Battle Group is taking positive, proactive steps to reinforce its reputation as a completely neutral and highly professional force following inaccurate rumours and mis-reporting that appeared in the Timor-Leste media recently.

Brig Mal Rerden, who took over command of JTF 631 on October 26, said rumours that Australians had engaged in partisan and heavy-handed behaviour were unfounded.

“Unfortunately there were some baseless rumours spread a couple of weeks ago and we have been dealing very proactively with the Timorese people to ensure they understand we are conducting our operations in a totally professional manner,” Brig Rerden said.
