when the attacking team knocks the ball on and the other team gains possession (us), what do you have to do in the advantage to avoid a scrum?

  1. If a team knocks the ball on it is not a penalty advantage.  If the other team gets a hold of the ball straight after its play on.  If the team that knocked the ball on picks it up again its a scrum to the other team


  2. If the blue team knocks the ball on and the red team picks it up and goes, they get the advantage. If the red team keeps the ball in their possession, they keep the advantage until they gain ten yards, at which point the game returns to normal play. If the blue team picks the ball up again after knock-on, or if the ref does not see any advantage coming from the red team, then he will call a scrum.

  3. First of all be in possession of the ball and in a good position (i.e not any further back down the field from where the knock on happened). It is the discretion of the ref but generally if the team is in as good or better position from where the scrum would be packed down, advantage would be played and play would continue
