  1. Yes there are many different forms of scrapbook appropriate glue.  Glue is by far a more high quality scrapbooking tool.  Definitely go for the glue.

  2. There are a lot of different kinds of adhesive to use that are specific to scrapbooking. Be sure to choose one that is acid free. Some types are really for a particular use and some are a good multi-purpose adhesive. It really comes to a matter of preference in the end. I like using photo squares and a tape runner as my main type of adhesive. I use glue dots for adhering heavier stuff and then the next appropriate adhesive for the job depending on what I want/need to stick down.

It can be quite daunting if you are not completely familair with all of the stuff. Here is a partial list to guide you. :)

    TYPES:

-glue sticks (widely available by many brands) - doesn't work very well on vellum and I don't like it very much on heavy stuff

-photo squares or mounting squares (double sided adhesive tape cut into squares, widely available by many brands) Here are some brands: Fiskars, Scrapbook Adhesives - this is a good multi-purpose item, would definitely have on hand

-tape runner (a hand held dispenser applies a "tape" of adhesive to the paper-permanent, removable, vellum..., widely available by many brands) Here are some names: Mono Adhesive Permanent Bond or Removable Bond (made by Tombo), 3L E - Z Runner, Herma, Therm O, EK Success - good all purpose adhesive, more costly but is quick to use

-glue dots (a dot of adhesive that is pretty strong, use for attaching heavy things, widely available by many brands) Here are some brands: Glue Dots, EK Success, Therm O, K & Co. - would use these to hold heavy items, like embellishments, I wouldn't use these for just paper - good to have on hand though!

-double sided tape (a roll of double sided tape, you can get permanent or re-positionable: when it isn't permanent-this can allow you to try an image in a certain place before committing to it's location) Here are some brands: Therm O, K & Co., Art Accentz - multi purpose adhesive but I like photo squares better

-glue pen (starts out blue and becomes clear) Made by Zig 2 - can use on vellum and a few other things, more of a specialty item

-vellum tape (for use on vellum paper) Here are some brands: Scotch, K & Co. - good to have on hand if you work with vellum a lot

-foam dots (adhesive foam shapes for raising images) Here are some brands: EK Success - great if you want to raise an image or item up off the paper

-photo mounting tape (just like regular tape but for scrapbooking) Brand: Scotch - another adhesive but you can just use photo squares

-and then, of course, there is a Xyron machine(s) that can turn anything relatively flat into a sticker, it can laminate, and it can magnetize items (it just depends on what machine you get)

I know that was a lot of information but I wanted to help you with the different kinds. There are still other types out there, but how many can a girl list?!?!? :) Hope this helps you. Happy Scrapping!

  3. Tape runners are the way to go ,no glue mess and easy to use ;)))

  4. there is scrapbooking glue. and it works wonders. that or double sided tape is the best way to go.

  5. Using tape or glue in any scrapbooking project is ok. You need to take in consideration in a few things first. If you're only placing photos on a page or mating photos on colored card stock to create background frames, I perfer to use double sided tape by the scotch company. This kind of double sided tape can be found at any walmart, K-mart, Jo-Ann Fabrics, or Micheal's Craft store. Double sided tape ensures a permenant fixture for any paper project and without any messes to clean up. Tip: you can also cut each torn off section of tape in half or in strips with scissors to fit thinner areas of your paper project when tapeing down to other sheets of paper. If you want to use a glue, when scrapbooking, may I suggest a good water based, non-toxic and dries Acid Free  from a company called Club Scrap Inc. here is the URL address: www.clubscrap.com  I create many scrapbooklets myself and find that this glue is made for bookbinding, padding and Laminating Adhesive  is a great for many scrapbooking projects. The bottle is around $8. or so and has 8 Fl. oz. You don't need much of it because it goes a long way when applying a thin layer of glue on your surface areas. I've been scrapbooking for a good many of years and I also teach scrapbooking myself to many of my local neighbors and family members. To get you started in some great scrapbooking ideas of your own, here is a free and wonderful sight called, www.crafttvweekly.com  Hope this help you out.
