In simple terms - how do I set up a conference if I am a group moderator?

well, you can set one up via the Yahoo istant messenger, however all those members need to be on your buddy list in order to have a conference, plus they have to be lit up (yellow smile)

Yahoo groups disabled group chats some years back

I'd locate an outside chat site and use that, many different ones around.

You could just create a chat room on yahoo chat then let your members know   its name and when you would be chatting.

There is no "conference" feature provided for Yahoo Groups.

You would need to use Yahoo Messenger for "conferencing".

There are two choices for free ones.  You can get the free downloadable Messenger 8.1 or Messenger For The Web.  

I use Messenger For The Web for certain groups/activities.
