In snowboarding, is it hard to learn to stop?

I can kindof turn but I cant really stop. Is it hard to learn to stop?

If you know how to turn, you already know how to stop. Basically stopping involves turning, you just give the board more edge and you will stop. Too much edge and you will fall, but not enough and you will just turn. It really just involves the angle of the edge of the board in relationship to the slope of the mountain.

Use your edges to stop.  I compare the edge of a snowboard to a knife... a knife can cut and a knife can spread.  If you are too far up on edge, it will slice through the snow ("cut") and won't help you slow down.  Lower your edge angle just a bit and "spread" the snow.  This should help.
