so i woke up this morning and i could not move my head to the right side it hurt my neck so much. Then my right shoulder hurts to. Sometimes it will stop hurting and i forget about it so i will move my head to the right side and its this really sharp shooting pain and i start crying and i don'r usually cry. So i have been wearing this heating pad and it hasn't helped much. When i was putting a new one on i looked in the mirror and noticed my right shoulder was not level with my left shoulder it was hanging down. So i started moving my arm around in circles and i noticed i could hear and feel something moving near my shoulder blade. My dad said he would take me to the doctors in a couple of days, but any idea how to make it feel better before then? And i play tennis for the high school so i kind of hate missing practice.

  1. ICE not heat!  Heat brings more inflammation to this acute situation.  Try ice and see if it feels better than the heat, then you will know.  This is obviously not the solution, but an important piece.

  2. Try standing in a hot shower and after a few minutes, try moving your neck and shoulder to see if the pain is still severe.  If the heat helps, then it could just be muscle strain from sleeping on it the wrong way, or from injury playing tennis.  If the heat doesn't help, then a trip to the doc is a good idea to see what is going on.  Good luck!

  3. Probably a pinched nerve in your neck, rest, heat, tylenol may help. Tennis probably did this to you.

  4. GO TO THE DOCOTRS NOW!

it could be just a really bad sore muscle!

  5. hate to worry you but it sounds like you MIGHT have a pinched nerve there isn't much you can do for now but just try to get to the doctor as soon as possible and in the meantime don't move your shoulder or neck so DON'T GO TO TENNIS PRACTICE just try to rest at home and I THINK keeping it warm would be a good idea so warm baths might help.

Im not a specialist but that might be what it is

so good luck and hope you feel better :)   <3 <3<3

  6. i get this all the time. sometimes i can't even move or get out of bed. you just (hopefully) pulled a muscle. take some ibuprofin or asprin and a muscle relaxer and you will be able to move. in a day or two you should be fine but still go to the doctor just in case.

fyi: if you go to the doctor ask him for methocarbamol which is a really good muscle relaxer my family, friends and myself keep on hand.  just in case this happens to you again it will be good to have. my doctor also prescribed me 600-800mg ibuprofin to take with it. i promise it will work wonders.

  7. i get this sometimes too...i'm so sry but the next week - 3 weeks could be this way.  what happened is you slept on your neck wrong at night and now your muscle is strained. it can shoot sharp intense pain through your head, neck shoulder and even down through your arm.  put some heat on it like a heating pad for a half hour or 20 minutes. have someone rub it for you and try not to move it to the side.  My mom is a medical message therapist so she knows exactly what this is! trust me she knows!  Just be carful and good luck, take aleive for the pain and try to sleep with your neck and face in a forward position.  this can also cause your shoulder to be in pain and you can get little bumps under neath your skin which are called knots, they are muscles that are mad and ball up, try to work them out by rubbing and messaging them and that will help wioth the pain.  trust me, my mom knows what shes talking about!
