ok, heres the thing...

i need a car, and my friend said i can buy his 2006 Scion xb from him...

but i currently dont have a job and my friend told me that another person wanted to buy his car...

he said that he will wait for about 3-4months...

he told me i can make payments but i need to start with $250/month cuz my friend is like that...

i have no job and i have to wait until the 26th of september to get a job cuz im still in high school and they need to see my gpa before i get a workers permit cuz im 17...

so i wait til the 26th and get a job

or wait til im 18 and get a job...

my b-day is on november...

but now heres the thing, i fill out all the applications ive done in the past 2 years and still no one has hired me...

i know i did it correctly cuz i asked my business counsler and she said i did it perfectly...

no one seems to even notice me when im applying...

ok, the question now...

what should i do, wait til the 26th and hope for a job...

or wait til im 18 and find a job way easier than when im 17...

then another question, would you know what im doing wrong on the applications...

is it cuz i do it incorrectly and my counsler is lieing to me, or is it cuz employers dont really read my application...

i hate this

  1. We're in a recession, dude.  In a recession, adults often take jobs that teenagers or college-age adults would normally take, and it's hard for people like you to successfully get a job.  Keep trying, but that explains why it's so tough.  You may have to try the McDonalds and supermarkets of the world, even if that isn't your thing, because those sorts of places are most likely to hire teenagers.

As for a car - insuring a car when you are really young costs a lot of money - like usually over $100 a month if you are young and inexperienced driver - never mind buying one, paying for the title and registration - and don't forget the $3.75 a gallon gas!  So wait till you have a source of income before you buy one.  Cars can get expensive and it's just not worth it to worry about it till you really can afford it.  And then there's the maintenance for an out-of-warranty car (gag!).  Do yourself a favor and forget about owning your own car, and drive your parent's or other people's cars when you have the opportunity.  It's worth it not to worry about your own car.  Cars are so expensive that you are likely only working to afford the car, and using the car so that you can drive to work.  Do yourself a favor and just get a job where you can bike to work or take a bus.

I know I sound preachy, but I've been through all this before, and it's better just to keep it simple.
