In a dog race it may not matter as on any turn the dogs can wipe-out so the ones behind can get into the lead.

i like the closers, but when picking a spr you should always pick 2 early speed and 2 closers

In most cases, the greyhound in the lead at the first turn will win the race. The exceptions are the same as the precocious front runners in thoroughbred races; they start fast but fade badly close to the wire.

Because the most traffic problems in greyhound racing occur at the first turn, either an early speed type or a late closer will tend to avoid that trouble area and win more races.

However, the early speed runners are some of the best bets in greyhound racing.
