  1. anything you steal, the rest of us will get stuck paying for through higher prices.

i hope you get caught soon!

  2. It's not barcodes that trigger the security system. Strips of metal, electronic tracking stickers and some RFID (radio frequency) tags are what make the alarm system go off. Frequently, these items are concealed somehow in the product or packaging so that potential shoplifters cannot locate and discard them. Higher ticket items--like video games, DVDs, computer software, and small electronics--are the primary items that are tagged due to their value and small, pocketable size. However, as consumer budgets get stretched thinner and people are willing to steal a wider variety of items, tagging is becoming widespread in the retail community.

Theft is not the only reason why electronic tracking is becoming more prevalent. Manufacturing/shipping accountability is a big issue these days and RFID tags can contain a wide variety and amount of info that can include but is not limited to: product contents, shipping data (where the item has been and where it's going), date of manufacture, origin of parts, etc.

I hope you're asking the question as a matter of curiosity and not so you know what items to steal. Save yourself and your family a lot of trouble: just pay for what you want.
