  1. its computer generated, and its the world record line for the swimmers to chase. if they reach or surpass it, they reached or broke the world record.

  2. It's computer generated and shows where swimmers would be if they were on the existing record time schedule. That way, it's possible for viewers to see at a glance whether the competitors are likely to break the record or not as they approach the final touch.

  3. a computer generated line that goes at the pace of the world record to show if the swimmer will break it or not

  4. computer / tv generated

it is the world record line

if they are in front of it they are ahead of the world record

if they are behind it they are behind the world record

it would be nice if the swimmers could see it,

but only the tv viewers can see it

  5. no that is not actually there...the tv puts it there so you can see the record pace (thats how fast the record holder swimmer swam at the time when they went the record) so if the swimmer is ahead of the green line, it means that they are ahead of world record pace and will probably set a new record! yay

  6. It is computer generated and it is supposed to be the world record that they are chasing.

  7. It's computer generated and it is the mark that the swimmers have to beat to break the world record in the event.
