How come I barely know anyone from the team. I am not a big baseball fan but I know the game and how to play it. In other words, how come there is no A-Rod, Josh Hamilton, or Ben Sheets on the USA roster. Also, what does a 6-4-3 double play mean?

  1. 6-4-3 double play is a scorecard way of saying a double play in which it is grounded to the SS who flips it to the 2baseman who throws it to 1st for the double play

    1-P

    2-C

    3-1b

    4-2b

    5-3b

    6-SS

    7-LF

    8-CF

    9-RF

  2. Because we are in a pennant race here and are playing for what matters a world series championship!!

  3. The Olympic committe won't let pros play it yet.  remember the movie Miracle where the team USA hockey team won the gold? yea they were only collge aged guys.  Because until then, Pro's couldn't play in the olympics.

Plus, it's the middle of the regular Season.  How detrimental would it be if A-rod, Josh Hamilton, or Manny Ramirez left there teams?

Oh a the numbers in 6-4-3 double play coincide with the numbers for each position. If Jeter gets the ball, flips it to Cano, and Cano throws it to the first baseman Giambi, it's called a 6-4-3 double play.

The numbers go like this: Pitcher is 1; catcher, 2; first baseman, 3; second baseman, 4; third baseman, 5; shortstop, 6; left field, 7; center field, 8; right field, 9

  4. A 6-4-3 double play refers to what players executed the double play.

  5. because the MLB does not allow players with professional contracts to compete i nthe Olympic games, since it is in season and would hurt the MLB in many ways (season stoppage, loss of ratings, teams losing their best players)..so the alternative solution is to use college players or single-A (the lowest class of minor league baseball) players that a team will allow to go and compete

and a 6-4-3 double play refers to one that is started by the Shortstop, who throws to the 2nd baseman for the first out who then throws it to the 1st baseman for the 2nd out..each defensive position corresponds to a number in those plays

    Pitcher-1

    Catcher-2

    1st Baseman-3

    2nd Baseman-4

    3rd Baseman-5

    Shortstop-6

    Left Fielder-7

    Center Fielder-8

    Right Fielder-9

EDIT: they dont have an Olympic break because the MLB season is long enough as it is, and they already have a break in July for the All-star game, and you cant shorten the season every four years because teams would get pissed if they missed the playoffs because their players werent there or they played less games than normal.it just doesn't work in the mlb..plus i like seeing the young kids compete because thats what its about: competition

  6. Pro's are allowed to play in the olympics, see the Basketball and hockey. It just happens that the Olympics and MLB season happen at the same time so no Pro's will go. That is why they had the World Challenge two years ago, to try to settle the real best country.

The 6 is for the Shortstop which began years after the other infield, that is why the #'s are out of order.
