  1. No.

  2. Most modern rules allow for the opponent to reach over the net to reach the ball.

The "Rules of tennis" have been established by the Interantional Tennis Federation (ITF) to whom most national tennis federations also belong and therefore they most follow these rules.

Some tournaments may deviate from these rules slightly to ensure fairness (if for really young players, or beginners.)

Rule 25(b) of the "Rules of tennis" states that it is OK to HIT the ball after it crosses from your side (whether due to spin or wind) to your opponents side. However, you may not do ANY of the items listed in Rule 24, which include:

    - the player touches the net

    - the player touches the opponent's side of the court

    - the ball touches anything but the racquet

    - the ball bounces twice

So, as cool as it looks/sounds, you CANNOT run forward, say, and when the ball crosses back to your opponent's court then get the ball while jumping over the net... You cannot touch the opponent's court, period.

The only time you are allowed to cross to the other side is on side changes, or if playing on clay or Har-tru courts, there is a disagreement on a call and the opponent has invited you to his her side so that you can discuss the mark...

Here's some links, and remember, a point doesn't make a match, so just give your opponent the benefit of the doubt then beat 'em anyway. Cheers, -m

  3. Im not sure.  Once, I mis-hit an overhead and there was so much slice that it came back on my side.  My opponent and i didn't know who's point it was

  4. rule 20e states that if a player jumps over the net into his opponents tennis court while the ball is still in play, he automatically loses the point.

  5. yep

  6. As in jump the net to hit the shot and jump back onto his side? No he's not! If the spin brings the ball back onto your side, your opponent can reach across, but not come over. In fact, if you cross the net without permission, the ref has the right to default you.

  7. yes he is.
