  1. Less than 9 years according to this.

  2. I say we just launch it out into deep space or into the sun...then we would never run out of room

  3. it wont be long at the current rate.

  4. Landfills are not all running out of room. There are many factors regarding the continuation of a model cell in a Landfill.

In Nacogdoches Texas, unless the population increases at alarming rates has enough room for the next 100 years at least.

The way a Landfill is managed can make much difference. Waste Management is doing more "greening" of their facilities, and lots of communities are coming up with alternatives for just "taking it to the dump."

Everyone can make a difference. Recycle, donate large pieces of furniture to charitable organizations along with those washers, dryers, etc.

Careless people still bring out things that could be used by someone, they just don't want to be bothered.

  5. Thousands of years at least - probably indefinitely.  I'm not too worried about it.

  6. Well, considering the population has jumped by roughly 3-4 times itself over the last 100 years....not long at all.

The problem with this is that nobody cares unless its a DIRE emergency....say the trash was being dumped on our driveways.

Until then, nobody really cares and politicians know this.  Thats why our government sucks, we dont have any leaders.  we have windbags.

  7. I think adamh has a good point. It's interesting that governments would think it immoral to dump our garbage in space.

  8. God knows! Look at the problems they've had in Naples!!

  9. I think that it is 10 years that there will be no landfill sites or space left. I know that in Essex there are 2 sites and both will be full in 2 years with no alternative sites

  10. sooner than anyone realizes

  11. The landfills will not last long enough to compensate our wonderful garbage.  But, if we are lucky recycling will hold

up the fills for a wihile.  Lets hope that mother nature will destroy what we have out there now , in time to repeat the

necessity of more garbage dumps. Just think our forefathers

did not have the garbage and wrecked cars etc. that we have

allowed to go to the dump. My husband has nightmares of

throw away diapers beginning to be a toxic mountain!!!!!

  12. I think rubbish should be dumped in common people's houses. They are always putridly filthy anyway, I've heard. Plus these peasants can feed on the rubbish and ensure they don't have any reason to visit the shops.

  13. NEVER a little something called incineration will be brought in to areas that would have no room for landfills, because right now the problem is not in my back yard syndrome for new landfills so the next best thing will be you create it you deal with it ,and communities will have no choice but incineration, and that will be another heated Q&A

  14. Depends on where you live...WM does a good job but charges an arm & a leg...
