no one knows he has been fez since the begging.

it isn't revealed. they almost reveal it in one episode, but it is blocke dout by the school bell. in reality, during that scene, wilmer said the names of all the actors on set. 'Fez' comes from 'Foreign Exchange Student" [replacing the s with a z later on]
