In the 1970s did scientists writing of global warming do anything to correct the activists and media?

who were touting global cooling?

Or did they make a calculated decision, "you know what, the end policies are largely the same (limit industrial development and private transportation), so who cares if the actual motive for popular support for those policies isn't true?"

Do the means justify the ends?

Are those means wise?

  1. deniers have been trying to push the seventies cool bull for some time and ignoring the publicly available evidence against it, now your trying this one on, how lame will these BS deniers theories get.

Although ignoring widely avaible evidence seems to be something deniers are good at.

  2. In the 1960's these same scientist were warning of a global cool down

  3. The answer to your question is quite simple, anyone who was around then  would remember it came to nothing and died as a story very quickly because it had little to back it up. Scientists are not in the habit of addressing nonsense you will notice they also don't usually comment on UFO's and Bigfoot which the media also like to bring up from time to time. Some elements of the media are still reporting on crop circles although those responsible have long since admitted it was a hoax and shown how it was done.

For the current situation scientists have come forward several times on worldwide news shows to state the current problem is real and a large problem for the future groups like pew publish regular poles on public opinion around the world they have GW acceptance as a problem running at well over 85% in spite of the strong mis-information campaign by a number of oil industry funded groups.

  4. Scientist were a dime a dozen same with engineering it wasn't because of intelligence, but demand. So is the current demand being self promoted? It does happen, and a true professional will stick to his avocation. Maybe something like a brotherhood or a Unionized coalition based on solidarity. Yep, even the scientific community has a elitist profile. There's to many examples to list, so would I question their judgment or the motive....hmmm.
