There was only afternoon and evening television.

TV started at either 12:00 or 1:00 pm

Nowadays it's non-stop. It goes on until 4:00 in the morning!

  1. Oh Honeyt, we were too busy in the day to sit and watch the tube.

  2. Not many programmes to telecast now the technlogy is developed that programmes are increasing and people can watch wherever they like...

  3. Because housewives were very busy in those days.

Women would walk thier children to school in the mornings and do housework and cooking in the mornings.

my mom was a typical 50's housewife and never had time to sit around watching tv. She would watch late at night when we were in bed but she would iron clothing while watching tv.

  4. T.V was new back then.Programmes were very expensive to make. There was no such thing as outside broadcast. It just did not exist. There was no splitting between studios.Visual news was not, really news.It was rather old news and radio still had the upper hand. There were no satellites,no video and no computers.

  5. In the early 50's 1950 to be exact, there were early news programs, some went back to 'test patterns' till noon, or after school shows at 4. Where do you get your research info? Oh, that's right, government schools. Ernie Kovacs had an early morning show in 1950, and I watched it before getting on the school bus, at 7:30 He was crazy funny, and very original.
