What happened to the All Electric Car??

It took a hit when GM scrapped their production of the EV1.  The technology has advanced a little slowly because the big automakers weren't researching it because they didn't need to - oil was cheap and plentiful and global warming wasn't a concern yet.

Now clearly things have changed and electric cars are advancing rapidly.  See the link below for details.
