In the Dark Knight movie, did Batman break his "one rule" by killing Harvey Dent?

In the Dark Knight, Joker repeatedly attempts to corrupt Batman by trying to make him a murderer. In the interrogation scene, he insists that Batman must break his "one rule". Joker even laughs triumphantly as he falls off the skyscraper until Batman saves his life, to which he says to Batman, "You truly are incorruptible." It seems Batman has beat Joker at his own game. However, at the very end of the movie, Batman kills Harvey Dent to save Gordon. Do you think Batman broke his "one rule" here? Could he have handled the situation in a less lethal way? I guess if Dent lived, he'd be a criminal, thugs he put behind bars would be free without question, and Gotham would lose hope. On the other hand, Batman did what any police officer would have done. It probably is legal (for self defense and defending others), but do you think it was the right thing for Batman to do? I feel like if Batman were to kill someone, I'd rather it be the Joker than Dent. What are your thoughts?

  1. I do suggest putting spoiler in the message at the top. Going to watch this in a few days and well... wanted to watch it without knowing what is going to happen.

  2. No.

  3. Harvey Dent does not die, he is going to become Two face in the next Batman, notice his obsession with flipping the coin

  4. Next time start the question, warn that you have a spoiler in the rest, and ask the rest in the details, Not everyone has seen the movie jerk.

  5. Dent is not dead !

  6. That is a very good question but i dont think so, he wasnt trying to kill him i dont think he thought dent would die when he was knocked off or maybe he didn't try to knock him off the building he was just trying to put him off balance, so if he wasnt trying to kill him it doesn't really count (but did anyone else noticed that he probably killed loads of people in Begins when he blew up the League of shadows building on top of the mountain).
