For example, when the team of 6 women gymnast won the silver medal, did it count as 1 or 6 silver medals on the official medal count?

  1. There is one medal of each colour for each single event.

All the members of one team event get a medal, but it only counts as one medal in the medal tables.

  2. The team won 1 gold medal on the board.

  3. Each Olympian would get a medal, but it would only count as ONE medal for the medal count.

  4. no im preety sure they dont if they did then the countries who exel at team sports like football (soccer), basket ball and such would dominate the medal count since each player on the team would then get a gold for example the basketball teams each of the players and subs would get a medal and then that countrie would have 20 gold... it doesnt work that way.

  5. team sports are counted as 1 medal.

  6. There is no "official olympic score".  The medal count was made up by the media.
