  1. Blake, to start with you have to get accepted into the pilot training programme.  If you are lucky enough to get that far you will then go to Tamworth for evaluation and initial flight and ground training.

If you make it through there, you will need to undertake military training.

From there the shrinks will determine, through exhaustive tests and more evaluations just where you will fit into the organisation.

You may be  a transport pilot or maritime. There is no guarantee that you will be a fighter pilot

  2. I believe out of everyone that applies (including everyone who suddenly decides they want to be a fighter pilot today) is about 1 in every 10 000. However this number quickly drops as all the medically, mentally, physically incapable are kicked. After being accepted through all the aptitude, pyschological, medical, officer selection board (etcetera), testing.. you progress on to the actual training -> IOC (initial officer course) -> COMSURV -> AVMED and so on. I believe once you commence BFTS and 2FTS, the pass rate is about 20-30%. I think the figure is around 1/500 once all the obviously uncapable and unsuitable applicants have been weeded out.

    Hope this helps !
