In the Super 14 (previously the Super 12, composed only of Aus NZ & SA regions), do they limit the number of players a team is allowed to have that are either foreign/not from this country OR not from this province/state/region/district?

What would happen if they did severely limit the number of players from outside the province in this competition? Who would do well out of it, who would be in the second flight?

non-home-region players?

  1. I think they should open it up and it would be the best Rugby comp ever.  Imagine Brian O'Driscoll and Victor Matfield playing for the ACT Brumbies.  That's wishful thinking for me.

I'm sure that NSW would love to have Dan Carter to solve the problems at fly half.  And Bryan Habana crossing the line in a QLD Reds jumper.

Which team in the Super 14 would love to have Jerry Collins smashing everything.

Otago would love to have John Smit at hooker.  At least they would have a better line out feed than Anton Oliver (Ouch)

If you asked the current champions, the Bulls, if they would like George Smith at flank, they wouldn't have to be asked again.

Contemponi, Wilkinson, Jenkins all playing Super 14.  That I would love to see.

All I want is Matfield, O'Driscoll Collins and Smit at the ACT Brumbies.  We'd have the 2008 title, for sure
