This has just been on my mind lately cause I'm planning on joining the U.S Marine Corps, And i have a very great shot, whether it's a rubber band or a M16A2 rifle. And I'd be really disappointed if i can't shoot it with my left hand on the trigger.

  1. No you are not required to shoot right handed, however you are required to do drill primarily as if you were right handed!

De Deuce he said he was joining the USMC so that would make it Drill Instructors not Sargeant and i would not ask that Robert12 unless you want to be crucified when you receive your weapon just a word of advice.

  2. you go by your dominant eye.  you can fire right or left handed.

  3. no it depends on your dominate eye tell them ur left eye is dominate and they will let you shoot left handed

  4. Either My son is allowed as they teach opposite side shooting.

Thank you for your service. Good Luck to You!

  5. No you don't just walk around holding it like that, there is 4 safety rules you'll learn in the marines about you rifle that you'll remeber and do but you'll have to join to find out.

  6. Apparently it has something to do with which one of your eyes is dominant.  Anyway, at least you get the choice of which hand you would use.

  7. I'm sure it's either way.

  8. The military WANTS you to be a good marksman and HIT your target SO... they will see to it that you have all the training you need to shoot right handed OR left.

Just be sure to ask your Drill Sargent when you get issued your weapon that you want one with the rifling's (the internal groves in the barrel) going with a "left spiral". This will mate up with your leftiness and ensure that you will hit your target.
