Question:

In the UK, is it you, or the hospital that are responsible for updating your doctors medical records?

I went to the doctors today, as I havent been feeling very well (viral infection, they say)

Its been 9 weeks since my m/c finished, and I was greeted by a pregnant nurse who cried "Ooooh, hello pregnant lady!" (referring to my previous notes).

I corrected her, and she answered "Okay"

It was such a slap in the face. I walked home crying.

Shouldnt details of my miscarriage have been referred back to my doctor, or was this my responsibility? I have been knocked right back by today, it's really opened up some old emotional wounds which i thought were healing.

  1. If you gave details of your doctor at the hospital then they would almost certainly write to him to keep him up to date. This can take some time - but 9 weeks does seem excessive. You can but ask why the records were not up to date.

  2. It should be the hospital but they are slow believe me,

I had lots of blood work done last week because i just found out I'm pregnant and the doctor did not know what i was talking about.

The hospital had not passed on the details so he thought i was lying.

I got told unless its flagged as urgent then it can take anything up to 8 weeks to reach your GP.

I am so sorry for your loss Hun
