In the UK are there more new cars being put on the roads each year than there are old ones being taking off?

  2. I think it is more likely that more young people can afford to own their own car these days.  Also, as the average age of the population of the UK gradually increases, and the population itself continues to grow, there are more people of driving age, so more cars on the road.

    I think the Goverment tried to combat this problem a few years ago by introducing the compulsory driving test for drivers over 70 (not 100% sure about the exact age).  Sounds like it isn't working though!
