Question:

In the UK does a trike passenger need any type of license?

We are looking at purchasing/building a trike, the main rider has the relevant license for either a vehicle or bike class of trike so we are clear there, however we wondered if it is legal in the UK for a person with no license to ride on a trike as a passenger, (this would be sat behind the rider).

Thanks in advance for any help.

  1. If you do have to then I wouldn't want to live in UK. No offense. It must be highly unlikely.

  2. No you don't need a licence, you do need a proper provision for the passenger though – fixed seat and foot position for example.
