From cost perspective, I'd say Glasses Direct (online only).

Style, I'd say Specsavers (although Dolland and Aitchison have some interesting frames as well).

Comfort - I'd definitely say D&A.

Service: Possibly Specsavers.

I'm asking as I ordered two new pairs of glasses and a box of contact lenses from D&A yesterday (My other glasses broke over the weekend and I'd run out of lenses).

One pair is rectangular neon pink Dolce and Gabannas(sp?) and another pair - whose shape I can't remember now - is a mixture of bright beetle green and 'oil-on-water' colours.

I can't wait to get my new glasses, so excited!

  1. I stopped going to D&A as the assitant used to ingore me if I walked into the shop and serve people behind me(she had a friend who used to date my dad) I started going to specsavers and couldn't believe how cheap they were compared to D&A the quality is the same and the service has always been ok

  2. Re Specsavers and their BOGOF offers, remember there is no such thing as a free lunch and you will be paying for the 'free' pair somewhere along the line.  These large companies are not charitable institutions, they are in business to make a profit - as they should be.

Just shop around, compare prices and then make your choice on what it suitable for you.   It is your money and you are the one spending it.

  3. Glasses Direct are the worst place to go, never again, I have waited over 2 months for them to deliver a pair of varifocals. I make regular phone calls but am still waiting.

  4. Specsavers! im only saying that because i work there! But that means I know we give everyone a good quality service as well as good value frames and good promotions (eg by one get one free!)
