In the UK will vets neuter kittens at 4.5 months or say it's cruel?

MY vet said about 6 months but I think my kitten is ready now (4.5 months). He weighs about 3lbs (1.3kg) - would that be okay with anaesthetic? Will I be made to feel like a cruel cat owner!?

  1. If your vet says no, then it's a no.

    End of.

I don't know why you're asking on here when you've already got a clear cut answer from a professional.

Just wait until it's six months, if that's what the vet thinks is suitable.

  2. i live in the uk and the vet would not neuter my 2 tom cats until they were 6mths old, that was 15yrs ago and my sister went with her 5mth old cat to the same vets and they still won't do him till he's 6mths.

  3. It depends on the vet. I adopted a male kitten last week who just turned 4 months, if his weight is an indication, and he was neutered by the shelter about a month before I got him. If you're concerned that your little boy is demonstrating some big boy traits, like spraying, I'm sure they would consider him for neutering.

  4. It is safer to wait until he is 6mths old, You only got 6wks to wait
