So like a number (416) - 023-1234, is it possible? And if you know, can someone provide me with information on advanced number formating/regulations in the US?

  1. No, it is not. The first digit of the prefix can not be either a 0 or a 1. Additionally, the prefixes 411 & 911 can not be used.

  2. No,

certain prefixes are reserved by the local provider.  (0 & 1) are two of them.

If this is a business related question you could do creative programming within your own switch to allow this.  But you can't get a number w/ 0 from the phone company

  3. nope not in use, it's like the TV shows are all (713) 555-1089

    fictional

  4. No.

  5. No, the number 0 is the indication to take you (or route you) to an operator function i.e. person to person or collect call even if it is now an automated feature.  NANPA (North American Numbering Plan)  has the number all mapped out.
