In the Vedic birth chart, what are the English numbers?

I know that the houses start anti-clockwise, but what do the English numbers represent?

The Vedic Horoscopic CHART comprises 12 houses .Normally, the top 2 nd is the first constellation .It is for study.

But the Horoscopic chart differs from person to person .

There are two methods ..one is anti clock-wise as you said an normally northerners follow it.

The clock-wise notation is famous in South India .it is normally called Krishna Murthy Method or B.V.Raman Method.

The Lagnam or ascendent is always numbered ''one''( 1)

from that house the other houses are numbered.So number one house in the chart is ascendent or Lagnam.The other houses are serially numbered.

In vedic astrology,in a birth chart diagram, numbers indicate Rasis(signs).1 represents Aries or Mekh,2 represents Taurus(Vrikhbha),3  Gemini(Mithun) and so on.
