Question:

In the Warhammer 40,000 wargame, what is the squad size for a Space Marine Assault Squad?

I've heard that the answer is 10, which includes 1 sergeant and (potentially) two with plasma pistols, but on Games Workshop's site, all they have is a 5 man squad, including the sergeant, and two with plasma pistols.

So, is the squad size 5 or 10, and if it's 10, should I buy two of those 5 man sets? Would this leave me with 8 normal marines and 2 sergeants? And where might I find a 10 man set of Assault Marines, if they do exist?

Note: this may seem plainly obvious, but I'm new to the game, so bear with me please!

  1. Hi, either 5 or 10 depending on the codex. Blood Angels and Dark Angels allow you to take either 5 assault marines or 10 with one plasma pistol. Generic marines allow you to take between 5-10 with up to three plasma pistols and melta bombs. With the new marine codex coming out it is going to be 5 or 10 marines only. If you have the money buy two sets so you have the option of running either two 5 marine squads or one 10.
