  1. The SYSTEM32 folder is the replacement for the old COMMAND folder. This folder holds your DLL files (Dynamic Link Library = Executable Application Expansion based files that run as called by EXE's.) It also contains vital DRIVER information. This folder is called SYSTEM32 for a reason and I am sure you have seen SYSTEM and SYSTEM32. The folder name means it contains system vital data files. 32 means these files are for the 32 bit side of Windows, the pretty clickable user interface.

Deleting this folder is not possible in most cases, however those who have attempted to delete the folder reported cases of independent errors and in some cases, irrecoverable OS damage.

In English, deleting the folder or any of it's contents will result in DLL errors, software failing to operate properly, and Windows failing to load.

    DO NOT ALTER THIS AREA!!!!

Asking a question like this is a CLEAR sign that you are not yet ready to prune within your Windows Folder. Not to offend but this is a beginner level NO NO... If you have to ask this question, there are at least 4 more questions that you need to be asking as well. Trust me, if the System32 folders purpose was unclear, chances are, there's more stuff that you might not be aware of.

Please, do yourself a favor, and do not take this personally in anyway, but go get a Windows for Dummies book... (IDG Publications)... You will learn sooooo much from this book because they take out all the hi-tech jargon and replace it with ENGLISH!!!!!. You will not regret the purchase, TRUST ME!!!!

  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOO

    it is the windows system

you really really need the system32 directory and all the files in it.

  3. Do NOT delete this file, It is the core of your computers h/drive. Delete your computer is STUFFED. Basically this is what viruses do, they run a code on the computer which deletes System32. Don't delete this file.

  4. not if you ever want to use your computer in the future...
