  1. The hands of clocks and watches shown in advertisements are most commonly set to 10 minutes past ten in an effort to best frame the manufacturer's logo or emblem, which is often displayed on the faces of timepieces just below the 12.

    see link for more info

  2. Industry standard for watches with logos on the upper half of the watch face. That way the hands frame the logo. 8:20 is standard for logos on the bottom half (but some think that 8:20 looks like the face is frowning.

Go to the Timex website, and you'll see that the display time is 10:09 and 37 seconds!

  3. Well thank you all for answering this question for me too!

I have been wondering for years why clocks are always set at that time, but now I guess I got the answer too!

    Thanks!

  4. they are set that way because i am pretty sure something in italy happened that day.  and after happening in germany it spreaded  all around the world and maybe factorys just preset them to that time

  5. Thats right, they are photographed that way to show the brand and to sort of "frame" the name between the hands.

  6. I don't know for sure, but think that the watches and clocks are kept at 10:10 so that the hands don't interfere with the clear view of the brand name, which is usually located at noon.

  7. So you can see the logo in the top in a frame. like most people said.
