  1. Great!!!! It sounds perfect!

I even like yours better because Socrates' version seems a little too self centered. For instance, "worthy" is a matter of opinion and if what exists was meant to be, then even the UN-examined life has its worthiness...(the "full potential" of anything is rarely ever reached) otherwise it wouldn't be there for us to even mention.

I know..wasn't in your question..but uggghhh..I just had to get up on my pedestal. ;) hehehe

  2. Your rephrase makes sense and isn't half bad. My rephrase, to keep with the gist of Socrates, would be: Only the life examined by reason is a life that is truly fulfilled. The reason I write "reason" is that was Socrates method. We can all question but to rise above mere opinion and find truth then we must use reason. We stop just using reason as tool for our desires and start living in accordance with it.

  3. "life is to examine the very purpose"

Else it is mere existence like other animals

  4. Yep, sounds good.  Or "If one does not search for the deepest levels in life, then one will never comprehend the true reality and beauty of this world."

  5. Question everything but don't forget to laugh too ;-)

That used to be my life , life filled with illusions and desires that are mostly unattainable. Now, after much reconsideration and self reflection i'm really looking forward to living a simple life and just being happy with the fact that i exist in the universe . I think that comes with the realization that all good things come to an end and so does the bad , so the plan is just be happy . You can be a brilliant philosopher who examines everything to death and yet be miserable , i've known such people ,what on earth for ?

  6.    I think you've got it pretty much figured out.

  7. yep thats fine!

Or you could try - 'your purpose is to gain knowledge' 'men should strive to learn' etc
