  1. ohhhh i hate that book they made us read it last yr!

    umm i think one of the other things he has to over come is the hole town is against his love for an aboriginal girl, i vaguely remember some old guy saying "black girls will give you the clap", i'd use that to back up the statement.

    he has to deal with living with a poor family with lots of kids

    he is isolated from the world

  2. The fact that it's a large family and he's about in the middle.

    Also poverty, although it is a poor area that they live in.

    He also has to overcome his own feelings of inadequacy.
